THE LORD'S PRAYER

From 'The Forgotten Books of Eden'

The First Book of Adam and Eve

Chapter XXIII - Verse 9 - In Footnotes

Our Father,

Who art in Heaven, be gracious unto us, O Lord our God, hallowed be Thy Name, and let the remembrance of Thee be glorified in Heaven above and on earth here below.

Let Thy kingdom reign over us now and forever. The Holy men of old said remit and forgive all men whatsoever they have done unto me. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil thing; for Thine is the kingdom and Thou shalt reign in glory,

forever and forevermore.

Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13 KJV

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

AYATUL KURSI

ree

Qur'an, Al-Baqarah 2: 254-257

Allah! There is no god but He - the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there that can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His throne doth extend over the heavens and on earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them, For He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever-Living the Sustainer by Whom all subsist.

No slumber can seize Him nor sleep.

To Him alone belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.

Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His leave?

He knows all that was before them, and all that shall be after them, and they can grasp nothing of His Knowledge except that which He may will.

His Throne (ie. Knowledge and Power) encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both (the earth and the heavens) does not weary Him, and He alone is the Most High, the Supreme.

GREAT SPIRIT PRAYER

ree

Oh, Great Spirit,

whose voice I hear in the winds

and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me.

I am small and weak.

I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes

ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made

and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand

the things you have taught my people.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden

in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother,

but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.

Make me always ready to come to you

with clean hands and straight eyes,

so when life fades, as the fading sunset,

my spirit will come to you

without shame.

- Translated by Lakota Sioux Chief Yellow Lark
